Visual Sensing of Meaningful Environmental Symbols
Domestibeasts use signage in the suburban landscape to make sense of the world because it is predictable and highly recognizable. Like all nomads, Domestibeasts are highly attuned to color, shadow and textural variation in the environment. This allows them learn to prefer certain colors and shapes over others.
These colors and shapes are picked out of the landscape, run through memory and compared with past examples. The result is an emergent map of the environment both in terms of space and in terms of where resources are likely to be found.
